A couple months ago Silas made a scene from China out of random things in our house. First he made a man working in a rice paddy, then he made a house on stilts. The house, unfortunately, is leaning and sliding down a bit after being on the mantle for so long, but this non-crafty mom is still impressed by his creativity.
A friend gave the kids a decorative wooden birdhouse back in the fall. It sat in a cupboard for quite some time, but a few months ago I pulled it out and had each of the bigs paint one section of the house. I love how the random assortment of bright colors work with our cobalt and lime walls!
Devon shoved a jack in his water bottle during lunch, then kept adding more jacks until he'd built this little tower of them. Cool to look at, but not so great if you actually want to use the water bottle for drinking.
