My dad arrived yesterday afternoon for his annual "take the Ws to a pumpkin patch" trip. After one year at Sauvie Island and five years at Baggenstos, we decided to try something a little closer to our current neck of the woods. Wooden Shoe, which is hugely popular for their Tulip Fest, started a Pumpkin Fest a couple years ago and we gave it a try this year. Bonus points for having two "pay for a kid, get an adult in free" coupons!
That place is packed out in the spring, but it was a sparse crowd today. I think that's because of a few things - it's still a relatively new gig for them, the weather forecast was cruddy, and there are some other popular farms in the general vicinity. We had a great time, though, and will definitely go back again.
The only glitch was that their corn was really short and adults could see over the top of the maze, but they said that was a flukey thing this year and they're not sure why it was it wasn't as tall as past years. A quick growing corn that grew fast, but not high. The kids had fun in the maze anyway, which is great because corn mazes are the deciding factor in which farms we'll visit. No maze, no visit.
The forecast for today was 60% chance of rain and a high of 52, but we alternated between gray and blue skies, never got rained on, and the temp was 56 when we left. And when did we leave? Five hours after arriving. Yes, five. Five hours of mazes, activities, and eating corndogs and Mt. Angel brats. The kids had so much fun!
Anyway, enough chatting. Let's move on to the pictures.
We, including one W who was pumpkin patching for the first time, posed as soon as we got there, as we weren't sure if the weather would take a turn for the worse. We then proceeded to swing, stand, hang, ride, pose, shoot paint balls, shoot spuds, shoot bigger spuds, shoot bb guns, shoot arrows, sit, ride, climb, slide, yodel, smile, and sleep. Super fun day!

I have to say, I feel like a creepy lurker because I don't comment that much, but I enjoy your blog and love when your dad posts about something on his blog. He has such a great sense of humor- I couldn't help but laugh at the bad manners caption. Funny guy!
