CORN CREW

The corn man, a guy who sells ears of corn from the back of his truck at 5/$1, came by twice this week and we bought $15 worth of corn. Seventy-five ears of deliciousness. We've eaten some of them, but here's what was left as of this morning.

That's a lot of corn, right? Well, I got a message from a friend this morning saying that her parents has a ton of corn we could have for free if we were willing to come pick it. I wasn't sure if it was worth it because we already have a bunch, but free food is hard to pass up. So the four Ws who were home promptly shoved some lunch in our faces and hopped in the car. Here's the corn crew posing before unloading our harvest.

And just how much corn did we pick? Three hundred fifty-one ears! That's $70 worth of corn at the bargain price the corn mans offers and a lot more everywhere else, but we got it for nothing more than a little bit of time spent picking. How cool is that? Check it out!

Needless to say, we'll be spending the rest of today processing corn. And the leftovers we always eat for dinner on Sundays? I'm glad there's enough that we can just make tonight be our leftovers night and not have to break our corn stride to cook.
