I bought this skirt a couple months ago. Huge accomplishment number one? It's a skirt. Huge accomplishment number two? It's patterned and kinda frilly. Way outside of my comfort zone, but I loved it when I tried it on. I'm sure the blues and greens contributed to that love.
Anyway, I haven't worn it yet because I'm not sure what to pair it with. I'm tempted to just toss on my navy flip flops and a navy tee, but I don't know if that would work. I may even be willing to stretch myself to the point of accessorizing. Maybe.
You don't have to envy the skirt if it's not your style, but please, those of you who are little fashionistas, tell me what to wear with it before this summery weather is over!

Um, I think you should pair it with a red tube top, and as far as shoes, probably 4-inch heels. If you insist on accessories, probably 3 or 4 long strands of pearls.
Love the last comment! :)
That is a sweet skirt, B. It would go with all sorts of solid colored tops. I'd probably go for something green to bring out the green in the skirt - do you have a limey-colored fitted tee? Navy flip flops would work fine, as would a natural-fiber type sandal like hemp or bamboo or something.
Cute! I'd wear a fitted tank or t-shirt. Solid colored. And flip-flops. But I'm not exactly a fashionista...so who knows... ☺
Wear it with a closer fitting top since it has volume. Volume on top and bottom make you look like you have lots of volume.
Anyway, I'd wear a ribbed tank with a long cami underneath. I'd wear a navy tshirt. I'd wear flip flops or cute flat sandals or a cute strappy heel. You can do whatever.
Pull out any color in there to wear. But really a t or tank will work fine with flip flops. That skirt can be dressed up or down.
You said accessories? I'd wear chunky bracelet and big earrings. But gold hoops and/or a small gold necklace would be lovely.
And then post pictures of yourself in this sweet outfit, k?
I bought this top recently and I think it would go great with that skirt. http://www.anntaylor.com/catalog/product.jsp?productId=26164&N=1200100&pCategoryId=3939&categoryId=4559&Ns=CATEGORY_SEQ_4559&loc=TN&gridSize=sm&showAll=true&defaultColor=Periwinkle&defaultSizeType=Regular. Wear it untucked with a thin belt slung low.
I really love these shoes: http://www.bornshoes.com/Product.aspx?Productid=5098. This particular pair are pricey, but you might be able to find them on sale at Macys OR look for something like them. BORN's are very comfortable, hip and would go great with that skirt.
Good luck
c
I was thinking the top in the seafoam green.
I'm not sure the link to the shoes is working. Google Born Shoes, go to women's sandals and click on "hydrandgea".
Beep - Ha!
Monique - Natural fiber sandals would be fun.
Abby - I like your style. :)
Kelly - You were one of two people I knew would comment. And I knew you'd work some dangly earrings and chunky bracelets into the outfit. I promise to post a pic once I have an outfit.
C - You were the second person I knew would pop in here. I think I'd eat an eggplant before I walked around in those shoes. Maybe not, but I'd think about it. :) They *are* cute and I can totally see you pulling it off, but they're not me. I hate heels. A lot. The top's cute though!
I would put that skirt with a tank - navy or a matching lighter blue or green. And bare feet. Flip flops if I absolutely HAD to leave the house. And no jewelry, unless I was having dinner with Kelly. :)

Bethany ~ When I looked at Chloe's shoes I thought to myself, "No way Bethany will wear those. But dang if I don't want them LOL." The top is cute. Pull any color out of that skirt and it will work.
Jen ~ You crack me up. I've not been wearing jewelry lately. It is just too heavy. I wore some knitting yesterday and took off the earrings and bracelet half way through the day because they were hurting me. Stinks I tell ya.
Bethany ~ Where did you find the skirt? Maybe you mentioned it and I forget. I'll go back and re read.
Jen - Love bare feet ... and flip flops when shoes are necessary!
Kelly - Ross. Not very helpful, huh?
Bethany, you're too young and cute and life is too short and fleeting to dismiss entire types of shoes. It is never too late to try new things. Fashion is one of the few things that we get to experiment with and enjoy. I wear all sorts of things today that I never would have tried 10 years ago because they weren't "me". I encourage you to try new things, stretch yourself; you might find that you love things you never imagined you would, but you'll never know unless you try.
There is no harm in trying things on. Find a Macy's and go try on some shoes you would never wear or buy, just for the fun of it. Take your skirt with you and see what looks good with it; they don't mind.
Anyway, those shoes in lime green would be soooo cute with that skirt. just sayin'.
That said, have a look at the flatter "gladiolus" or "water lily". I also like "Anette" which would look nice with jeans.
love, c
Chloe - You're absolutely right that I need to stretch myself and I love the fact that you'll tell me so. That being said, the skirt *is* a stretch for me. :) Baby steps, it's all baby steps. I'll go check out the flatter shoes though.
Not any help, especially since we don't have a Ross lol.

Kelly - The tag says "Bila". :)
