FAMILY HISTORY

We met my dad halfway between his home and ours today in order to exchange a little W.  It ended up being a trade, though - I gave my dad a kid and he gave me a package.

Here's the plastic box I brought home.

I opened up the plastic box to find a package wrapped in brown paper.

I opened up the brown paper to find a 7 inch stack of letters.

I examined the top envelope and found familiar handwriting and two familiar names.

This is a stack of letters that my mom wrote to my dad before they were married, from 7/73 - 5/75 (about a week before their wedding).   How cool is that?!

I need to figure out a way to share these with Beep and Ben, so feel free to pass along any brilliant suggestions for that.   Meanwhile, I know what I'll be reading in the midst of this five week stretch between the 21st anniversary of her death and what would have been her 60th birthday.

That is sooo sweet! Can you scan them and made them into a photo book?

What a treasure.

I'd suggested scanning them too... easier to share.

No, don't digitize them. I like the thought of keeping them vintage. I don't mind waiting to read them. It will give me something to look forward to the next time we're on your continent. But, that's just my two cents (or centavos).

I agree with Belinda.

What a beautiful family gift! I love that your mom and dad exchanged letters and I love that your dad kept them.

Sounds like I'll wait until Beep's in the country again and ask Ben what he'd like. :)
