SILAS' BIRTHDAY, PART TWO - 2018

Silas has been planning a birthday outing for months and it finally (sorta) happened on Monday. He wanted to take some friends cliff jumping for a day near Grants Pass, followed by a meal at In-N-Out, and chose to wait about six weeks after his late June birthday so that the water would be warm. Good thinking! Unfortunately, the area he was headed to got shut down due to wildfires within days of trip. Such a huge disappointment!!

The good news is that he was able to come up with a backup plan. He and Tim picked up Cyrus and Natie early that morning, then headed south. Braxton and Brooke, two of the Portland-ish kids' friends from the Rogue Valley, along with their brother, Bryant, and mom, Nicole, met them down there. Not quite as exciting as cliff jumping, but still a fun day hiking around and playing in the water with friends. Here's one of the spots they checked out. Isn't it pretty?

Dad drove up the freeway to meet them for dinner, which was awesome.

All the kids ...

... and the parents.

It's the most belated birthday celebration we've ever had, and it didn't quite go as planned, but he still had a great time. I have a sneaking suspicion there will be a cliff jumping trip earlier in the summer next year!
