Beep spent last night with us, then she and I attended a baby shower together this afternoon. We had a little time to kill before the shower, so I took her out to Chicken Adobo again for lunch. I'm not a picky eater and don't know what most things on the menu are, so she orders Filipino for both of us when we visit there. It had snowed on our drive up the freeway, so we ate food from the tropics while looking out the window at snow on the ground.
Then off we went to the baby shower. There were two sets of sisters in attendance, all of whom went to the same church in middle and/or high school. Although we've been in various combinations since our shared church days, I don't think Dani, Angie, Beep, and I had all been together at the same time since they were all still in high school. That's almost 25 years!
Not only did my sister and I get to see the other sisters, but we also got to see their mom, Kathy. She was part of my teen years and we interact on Facebook, but it's very rare that I get to see her in person. I saw her for about thirty seconds last summer, as well as for several minutes before church during my "marking the day" trip five years ago. I don't remember when I saw her before that trip, but it had been many years and I'm thankful for a chance to spend some time with her again.
