FOR SCHOOL
The Great Turkey Walk, by Kathleen KarrRead aloud for Silas. It's the fictional story of a fifteen year old boy, one who makes up in street smarts what he lacks in book smarts, who ventures out to walk 1,000 turkeys from Missouri to Colorado. We both enjoyed this book.
FOR MYSELF
Sisterchicks on the Loose!, by Robin Jones GunnThis was on display at the library and I'd heard about the author's books, so I snagged it. It was a good choice for delving back in to the world of reading. Funny and light-hearted in places, a little more serious with life lessons in others. It's the fictional story of two close friends, one mellow and predictable and the other adventurous, who go on a last minute trip to Finland to meet one of their relatives.
p.94, Is it possible that arrogance can masquerade as being "more experienced"?
