CREATING WORDS

We have a few words around here that we've never heard other people use. Thought I'd share them with you in hopes that you'd also have some to share.

attackle (uh TACK ul) - verb meaning to attack and/or tackle someone, often involves pouncing and tickling

americaussipina (uh mer i CAW see pee nuh) - adjective used to describe someone, my sister, for example, who was born and raised in America, works with Australians, and lives in the Philippines and speaks quite strangely when combining the language of those three countries

synonyms for the above word include:
filipaussican (fil i PAW see cun)
aussipinican (aw see PEE ni cun)

So, does your family have any words that no one else uses?

Ha ha. I don't think we have any, but I do remember growing up on Bethlinjamin Ln. :) (unofficially)

And Ally still says something that we never correct because we think it's so cute:

"Their chudder": can be used in sentences like, 'they love their chudder', 'they played with their chudder'.

We still use some of the words that my daughter misspoke when she was a wee tyke. The two that I can think of right now are "radiator" for "Gatorade" and "polinine" for "nail polish."

My children tend to shorten all their words. The family is the fam, the kitchen is the kitch. It can be a bit disconcerting when they ask us to pass the but when they want the butter. ;-)

What comes to mind is "stupid apples" for stewed apples (the only way in which the word "stupid" is allowed in our house), because that's what MS thought we were telling him we were having one time. And ZL's "pabee," his pacifier and blanket. We call blankets "B's," and he combined that with "paci" to create his own term for the two. Most recently, it has been used in sentences like, "Just two more days until 'pabee' goes bye-bye." :-/

my family has lots of words and phrases - but it's 12:30 in the morning and I can't think of any at the moment that wouldn't take too long to describe. hehe.
